About

WaltzPlay is a non-profit, member-owned, educational dance group which promotes all forms of social waltz, and includes various other dances. Social waltz is the waltz which existed all over the world before ballroom dancing was invented, and includes: Viennese Waltz, Crosstep Waltz, Tango Vals, Waltz Musette, Rotary Waltz, 5-Count Waltz, Cajun and Zydeco Waltz, Contra Waltz, Blues Waltz, and Mazurka Klandestina. Our dance style is casual and improvisational. Social dance is inclusive, in that we welcome all dancers and all manners of dancing, changing partners or not, close or open embrace, and structured or unstructured steps.

Our dances focus primarily on Waltz in its various forms and all other popular dance styles as well, including: Swing, One Step, Rumba, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Hustle, Blues, and occasionally Zydeco and Cajun.

~ Beginners are welcome. Come with or without a partner.
~ Dress casually or fancy, its up to you.
~ Wear shoes for dancing.
(We strongly recommend leather-soled shoes; they enable you to turn more easily.)
